MicheleMottProfile

Michele Mott knew at a very young age that she wanted to be an artist.  Born and raised in East Hampton, New York, she was surrounded by both artists of every discipline and the vibrant landscape that would ultimately become her primary subject matter.

After an initial round of studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Michele returned to Long Island to complete her fine arts degree at Southampton College.  Under the tutelage of such professors/artists as Michael Rosch, Michele honed her techniques for painting in the “old master” style, utilizing thin, transparent layers of oil paint on canvas and wood panel.

Michele’s passion for capturing Eastern Long Island’s uniquely lighted landscape paired with her love of land preservation has guided her throughout her process.

Michele’s work has been a mainstay feature at Chrysalis Gallery in Southampton since 1997.  Her work can also be found in many private collections and at any number of annual special events, such as Bridgehampton’s Art in the Garden auction and the Peconic Land Trust’s Through Farms & Fields art-centric weekend “tour.”  Additionally, Michele works by commission in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, pastel, charcoal and pencil.
